lyrics

I’m not about to open up now, after all these years.
Every syllable’s still visible beneath the dust’s veneer.
I know you wish your pretty eyes could rest a while in here.
But, laying them upon my skin could make me disappear.
I’m Safe from Sound in here. I’m Safe from Sound in here.
Like a message in a bottle. A time capsule, if you please.
Riding out on the seventh wave. A whisper on the breeze.
(And) Though the words my lips impart may lose weight year on year.
All the teenage pathos and poetry has me grinning from ear to ear.
I’m Safe from Sound in here. I’m Safe from Sound in here.
I know you wish your pretty eyes could rest a while in here.
But, laying them upon my skin could make me disappear.
I’m Safe from Sound in here. I’m Safe from Sound in here.

Tales of the Tape:

Recorded by Mick Wilson at Far end Studios.

Mick Wilson played bass, mellotron sounds, tambourine, toy box piano, sang and conducted the South Woodford Philharmonic Orchestra. I read my 1982 diary (again, but, out loud, this time), listened to Colin Bluntstone, sang, listened to Denny Laine, clicked my fingers and whistled all the way back home to Hoxton.

A pinch of The Beatles, a touch of Beach Boys & splash of Todd Rundgren all add up to nine classic songs about love, loss, faith and hope. The Grown Ups is an album of classy and intelligent melodic pop. Pop music for grown ups, if you will… ... more
